Smokin Bones BBQ really stands out that the best in northern Utah. I have sampled red barbecue from around the country. Smokin Bones ranks, for me, in the top 10. Cheers
Don't get me wrong, the food is good, and it was a nice spot to visit for lunch, but I don't think I'll be back. Despite the large portion size, it's not true barbeque. Add some spices to your dishes! Make it sing!
Corn bread is wonderful too would have sampled the pork however, they had sold out. I've tried all the other barbecue places here in town that is to say Salt Lake City and Bountiful hands down
I had the 3 meat platter. The brisket and pulled pork was cooked well. It was missing a bit of smoke taste. The turkey was by far the best of the three. For sides I was very impressed with the mashed potatoes.
I had the double steak burger with corn bread and cream corn, and my wife had the turkey sandwich with corn bread. Next time I'll just get a regular steak burger because the double was far too large for any normal human to eat in one sitting. My wife loved her turkey sandwich. I'm docking one star for not toasting the buns on the turkey sandwich, not heating up the corn bread, and for not bringing it meals or together (my wife finished her food before they delivered mine). However, this place is great and I'll definitely be back. The cream corn was awesome, but I couldn't eat it because I was too full. Be warned, the double steak burger is far larger than it appears in the photos.
I love everything here. My favorite is the steak burger, my husband loves the brisket. One meat salads are huge as are the Navajo tacos. My son always tries to down the double steak burger but it is too much food. Love the people who own it, they are amazing!
I ordered the double steak burger and was pleased by the portion size. Once again though, there was little to no flavor. It was very tender meat, but it was also somewhat dry and bland. The most interesting flavor throughout the meal was the creamed corn.
I'm from Texas myself, and while the meat was very very tender, there wasn't much flavor in it. It seemed somewhat dry and tasteless. The bbq sauce itself tasted store bought (too smooth, with no hints of other spices.) The "Texas sweet tea" that was available had no sweetness to it at all, and after informing staff of this, followed by their own taste test, it was removed prior to my leaving. The lemonade was okay though.
My co workers orders the Navajo taco that was on a good size scone. They quite enjoyed it.
